Niger Tornadoes midfielder Chidiebere Ernest has encouraged his teammates to brace up for a tough challenge in the second half of the NPFL season.
The 19-year-old pointed out that they need to tighten up their defence in other to have a chance of improving on their position in the table.
Niger Tornadoes currently occupy 16th position in the NPFL table.
The Ikon Allah Boys will be in action against Katsina United when the second round resumes on February 14.
“Yes, it has been a tough start for us. We know we haven’t performed up to our standards, but we’re determined to turn things around in the second half of the season,” he told Lodgexpress.
“To start with, we need to tighten up our defense. We conceded many goals than we scored in the first half of the season, and we know we can’t afford to continue like that if we want to stay in the league.
“Secondly, we need to be more clinical in front of goal. We’ve created chances but haven’t been able to convert them into goals consistently.
“At the moment we are doing well; we are six points behind our next opponents (Katsina United) and that is why it is also a key game for us.”
