Award-winning music journalist, Joey Akan has hailed popular musician, Patoranking for displaying a rare act of professionalism in his craft.
In an X post on Friday, Akan said Patoranking’s impressive display occurred at Timaya’s concert in Bayelsa State.
He noted that the ‘Babylon’ crooner defied an ailment to perform for expectant fans at the concert.
Akan said, “Earlier this year, per his request, I accompanied Timaya to Bayelsa for his Timaya Day concert. Went in the company of Patoranking, Ruger, Kcee and Rudeboy.
“Patoranking was very ill. He had malaria, looked like he was on death’s door, shivering uncontrollably.
“Our private jet landed, and the illness did not abate. That night of the show, a stadium with tens of thousands of people, Patoranking refused to not perform. Once they called his name on stage, he became a completely different person. Hit the stage with maximum energy, performed all his hits, jumped around, yelled at the top of his voice and gave a great show.
Once he was done, he slipped back to shivering. But for the duration of that performance, he was imperious, almost like a possessed man.
“That inspired me. No excuses. Just a top, top professional at work.”
