President Bola Tinubu has unveiled the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem, marking the beginning of preparations for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day on January 15, 2025.
This initiative focuses on honouring the sacrifices of Nigeria’s military heroes.
During the event held at the Council Chambers of the State House, notable contributions include N500 million from the Federal Government announced by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume; N200 million from the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, representing the National Assembly, and N50 million from the Chief of Defence Staff on behalf of the Service Chiefs and the Inspector General of Police.
President Tinubu pledged to prioritise the welfare of the servicemen and women as they combat the ongoing security challenges in the country.
He acknowledged the role of Nigeria’s armed forces as the government’s first line of defence, underscoring the government’s commitment to support military personnel and honour fallen heroes.
He highlighted the central role of security in Nigeria’s economic future, pledging continued resources to address security challenges across the nation.
