President Bola Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of a 15-man National Stakeholders’ Working Group (NSWG) for Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
The NSWG has the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume as Chairman.
The President also approved the appointment of Dr Orji Ogbonnaya Orji as the Secretary to the NSWG
(Executive Secretary/CEO in Office on 5-year Single Tenure).
Director, Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, who conveyed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja, said the inauguration of the Board will be announced in due course.
Other members of the Working Group include Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Zacch Adedeji; Government Representative Group Chief Executive Officer, NNPC Ltd, Mele Kyari; Representative of extractive companies (oil and gas), Mr Oghenegwueke Ajafia; Oil Producers Trade Section, Lagos Chamber of Commerce (OPTS); President, Miners Association of Nigeria, Mr. Dele Ayanleke, member Representative of extractive companies (mining); representative of the Civil Member (To be elected by the CSOs).
The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has written to the CSOs through NEITI to elect and present their representative and the process is on.
Other members are: Engr. (Mrs.) Nkechi Isigwe, member representative of Women/ Geo-scientist and former President, Association of Professional Women Engineers.
Extractive Industries Expert; and President National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Comrade Willians Apkoreha, member representative of industries Union in oil and gas.
Other members are: Barr. Musa Abdullahi Lawan, member representative of North-West Zone; Abubakar Mu’azu, member representative of North-East Zone; Amb. Matthew Sunday Adoli member representative from North-Central Zone; Olasupo, Abdel-Jeleel Taiwo, member representative of South-West; Chief Israel Ikechukwu Ikwuegbu, member representative of South-East; Dr Stephen Leo Akpan, member representative of South-South.
