President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of the “Youth House” in Abuja, an innovative gathering place designed to address the needs of young individuals from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
The Minister of State for Youth Development, Engr. Ayodele Olawande, announced this during a news conference on Tuesday in Abuja.
He noted that the approval of this landmark initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s pro-youth agenda.
Olawande explained that the Youth House, envisioned as a meeting point for young people from various backgrounds, fulfills a long-standing desire for such a facility.
He emphasized that the President remains committed to supporting all plans and initiatives that provide opportunities for Nigerian youth to thrive and grow.

He added that the current administration has already implemented several youth programs benefiting Nigerian youth, including the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA), Skill-up Artisans (SUPA), Student Loan, the Youth Help Desk, and the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), among others. He affirmed that the President is determined to do even more.
“What the President has accomplished is to provide all Nigerian youth with another platform for social interaction and an opportunity to discover their self-identity and passions.
With the Youth House now established, many young people will have the chance to effectively showcase their talents and abilities,” Olawande said.
“For a long time, various youth stakeholders and groups have been calling for a significant building in the nation’s capital to function as a ‘Youth House,’ but this desire has gone unfulfilled.
Now, our youth-supporting President has made this a reality, and Nigerian youth are grateful.”
He also mentioned that a detailed organogram and the functions of the Youth House would be released in due course.
The primary goal of the Youth House will be to help young people develop important life skills such as leadership, teamwork, cooperation, and communication.
I want to emphasize that the Youth House will not only be in the FCT but there will also be a Youth Centre in every state of the Federation, along with a corresponding Youth Green House to be situated within the Secretariat of all the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
“Although these won’t be large structures, they will help us achieve our goal of bringing the government closer to the youth at every level, promoting fairness, and enhancing the administration’s commitment to implementing youth programs and policies inclusively,” he stated.
Olawande highlighted that the initiative would involve the Youth House in the FCT, Youth Centres in State Capitals, and Youth Green Houses in all LGAs.
This initiative will be coordinated in partnership with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and private sector players to facilitate opportunities for all categories of youth.
He commended the President for his ongoing support of Nigerian youth, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda has tangibly benefited them, with the President prioritizing youth issues.
He emphasized that the nation’s leader will continue to do more for the youth and urged for patience and support from the public.
