President Bola Tinubu has granted approval for the appointment of new leadership for the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education.
Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa (Rtd) has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of the Commission, while Dr Idris Muhammad Sani will serve as the Executive Secretary/CEO.
General Ja’afar Isa brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Military Administrator of Kaduna State from 1993 to 1996.
Dr Muhammad Sani holds master’s and doctorate degrees in Islamic Studies and has an extensive background in education.
He has served in various capacities, including Director-General of Al-Iman School Lafia, Commissioner of Basic/Secondary Education in Yobe State, Chairman of the Nigerian Arabic Language Village in Borno State, Member of the Nasarawa State Government Committee on Enlightenment Campaign, and Secretary-General of the Association of Private Schools in Nasarawa State.
The President anticipates that the newly appointed officials will leverage their vast experience to effectively manage the Commission.
Their leadership is crucial in advancing the administration’s efforts to ensure comprehensive education for Nigeria’s out-of-school children, thereby safeguarding the future interests of the nation.
