President Bola Tinubu met with the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and his deputy, Barau Jibrin, moments after the Senate suspended Bauchi State Senator Abdul Ningi over false claims regarding the 2024 Appropriation Act.
The meeting took place behind closed doors in the president’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Although the agenda was not disclosed, it ostensibly concerned the day’s developments on the Senate floor.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District was given a three-month suspension for comments perceived as disparaging towards the legislature.

Senator Ningi stated in an interview with BBC Hausa Service that the National Assembly passed a budget of N25 trillion for 2024, contradicting the N28.7 trillion implemented by the federal government, which drew the ire of his colleagues in the Senate.
The presidency also vehemently disputed this assertion.
The Senate leadership did not address the media after the meeting at the villa.
