The Lagos State Authorities has stated the Third Mainland Bridge will likely be closed on Tuesday, January 9, for repairs.
The PUNCH reported that the bridge, which was closed to site visitors in November 2023, was reopened on December 21 to ease site visitors through the Yuletide interval.
The state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, in a press release stated the closure was to permit the restore works of the Federal Ministry of Works to proceed on some sections of the bridge.
He stated the Iyana Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele part can be closed for efficient repairs of your entire part of the bridge.
“The closure is a part of the continued work that began in November 2023, specializing in fixing the ramps, and now, the remaining components of the bridge will even be repaired,” he said.
Osiyemi stated preparations had been made to ease the burden of commuting.
He stated from 12 am to 12 midday, the bridge can be opened for Mainland inbound Island travellers, whereas those that intend to journey from the Island to the Mainland are suggested to make use of Eko Bridge.
“Conversely, from 12 midday to 12 am, motorists will be capable to entry the bridge from the Island to the Mainland whereas motorists from the Mainland heading in direction of the Island must use Eko Bridge.
“These timings have been chosen to match the height interval stream of site visitors and cut back journey stress.
