Technology and data have continued to be the most in-demand skills in Africa, according to a report by Outsized.
The talent platform operating in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific revealed this in a report titled ‘Talent On Demand.’
It noted that technology, data, change management, finance and risk, respectively, are the top skill areas in demand in Africa.
Johann van Niekerk, Global chief executive officer and managing director of Africa for Outsized, said, “The talent competition is intensifying, and companies will need to adapt internally and in their external partnerships to stay competitive.”
In 2023, tech and data skills like project management, business transformation, business intelligence, and agile methodologies were the major skills in demand, the CEO said.
Niekerk explained that 2024 would see a significant trend in technology implementation and rationalisation. “For 2024, several significant trends are emerging.
“First, there’s a growing emphasis on technology implementation and rationalisation, particularly in finance, healthcare, and education. This shift towards operational streamlining and efficiency enhancement is driving demand for specific skills,” the CEO added.
