Governor Muhammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has stated that Team New Niger is ready and prepared to face the challenges ahead in terms of problem-solving and teamwork.
The Governor gave this assurance during the closing ceremony of a week-long retreat and induction program for State Executive Council members, Permanent Secretaries, and political appointees at the Royal Institute, Zuma Rock Resorts, Suleja, on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, the Governor noted that every component of the program had been comprehensively discussed, debated, interacted with, and, above all, addressed accordingly.
Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, reading through the governor’s speech, stated that the theme of the program, “The New Niger Agenda,” a panacea for the sustainable development of Niger State, is already translating into tangible physical infrastructure and prosperity for the citizens.
The Governor commended the organizers for their insightful overview of what the “New Niger Agenda” entails in harnessing available human capital and material resources that lead to the actualization of New Niger.
The Governor added that over the last five days, the participants were exposed to salient issues that equipped and prepared the State’s Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, and Political appointees to improve practices of governance in their respective responsibilities. This includes tackling issues related to accounting, budgeting processes, civil service rules and regulations in line with extant rules as contained in the Scheme of Service.
Governor Muhammed Umaru Bago explained that financial regulations, stores, and procurement regulations are the watchwords of his administration, noting that adherence to the state’s procurement laws and others will entrench a culture of harmonious working relationships within the service.
Extending his appreciation, the Governor described Anderson Nigeria, the resource persons, and other partners as patriots for bringing critical issues that reawaken the state government’s responsibilities towards accountability, transparency, and working as a team to rebuild Niger State.
