Protesters from the Take-It-Back Movement faced resistance from the Rivers State Police Command as they were were tear-gassed on Monday.
Per reports, the demonstrators comprising the organizers, supporters, Civil Society Organisations, and Niger Delta Congress converged at Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt when the police stepped in and asked them to leave.
Ignoring the call to depart for another venue, the protesters reportedly sang solidarity songs, marched inside the park and proceeded outside towards the popular Aba Express Road.
On reaching the CFC junction, the protesters were confronted by the armed policemen, who instructed them yet again to vacate the premises.
After the order was ignored a second time, the policemen fired tear gas canisters, sending the various groups scampering for safety.
