Coalition of Yoruba group under the aegis of Region Alliance for Self Determination has warned the newly formed Miyetti Allah nomad to steer clear of the region in order to avoid crisis.
The warning was coming on the heels of the formation of the security group recently in Abuna.
The group led by the duo of Basorun Kunle Adesokan and Opeoluwa Akinola, Chairman and Secretary respectively at a press conference in Ibadan on Wednesday said the formation of the security group poses a threat to the unity of the country.
The Yoruba groups warn Miyetti Allah against deployment of the newly formed vigilante group to South West.
They said their groups would not condone any act of invasion of any group under any guise.
They, however submitted that any ethnic group in Nigeria was free to train and deploy vigilantes to protect their lives and property but their operation should be limited to their region.
Akinola said, “If members of this nomadic vigilant group are deployed to any part of Yorubaland, be it Kogi, Kwara, Delta or Edo, or to any part of South-West, in Lagos, Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo or Ekiti, they will be regarded as an alien, invading force, and will be treated as such.
“Anyone who is interested in the security of their livestock should buy a piece of land and build a ranch to quarantine their animals within a defined space, and organize their security within those boundaries.
“The Federal Government of Nigeria is hereby put on notice that this is a recipe for anarchy as we shall not accept it under any guise. The result, of course will be predictable anarchy.
“All parts of Yorubaland are advised accordingly. Under no circumstances will they be welcome or accepted anywhere in Yorubaland. Whoever is toying with that thought of deploying them to Yorubaland should immediately perish the thought!” He insisted.
Speaking in the same vein, Adesokan said, “This are trained soldiers disguised as vigilantes, and will only continue the grim culture of attacks on our people if they are allowed to function in Yorubaland.
“A permanent solution is a dissolution of the Nigerian Federation where each part can practice the kind of civilization they so desire. That will usher in eternal peace. We have always demanded our exit from this Nigeria contraption and the establishment of our own nation.
“These events have prompted Yoruba to demand our exit from Nigeria. We shall prefer a peaceful dissolution of the polity unless events such as the ones detailed above force our hands; to protect our people from death, destruction and extermination.
“That we want peace does not mean we are not ready for war, should anyone or group be foolish enough to dare it!
“We vehemently abhor and reject the importation of the vagrant, roaming cattle culture, and the attendant mayhem, violence and insecurity that usually follow, into Yorubaland.
“We must all remember what caused the “Operation “Wetie” in the 1960s and the “June 12” crisis in the 1990s. Both were the result of the Fulani’s underestimation of Yoruba’s resolve to resist the tyranny of the North.
“These two transgressions failed and resulted in the threatened collapse of Nigeria. The result of this careless action will be no different”.
