Stakeholders have urged the federal and state governments to implement policies to address the high youth unemployment rate.
This follows the just concluded nationwide protest, #EndBadGovernance protest held from 1st August to 8th August 2024.
The stakeholders, who participated at the ‘Biggest Lagos Job Fair,’ said the unemployment rate is among the causative factors of disorder of the protest.

David Osinowo, Convener of the fair and Managing Director of LD&D Consulting, emphasized the urgent need for both government and non-governmental organizations to collaborate on creating job opportunities and tackling youth unemployment.
Osinowo, who returned to Nigeria after 23 years abroad, expressed concern over the 33 percent unemployment rate. He noted, “I felt compelled to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers.
Many youths do not realize that organizations like E-transact, Axa Mansard, and the Concept Group are actively seeking more manpower due to the brain drain or ‘japa’ syndrome.
