High Chief Gershom Henshaw, the chairman of the Obong of Calabar Executive Forum (OCEF), has welcomed the vision of President Bola Tinubu for the development of the South-South Zone of the country.
He disclosed that the president has demonstrated his commitment to the development of the zone and that the commission will unlock the economic potentials of the South-South region.
The OCEF chairman disclosed this in Calabar while formally reacting to the signing into law of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) Bill by the president.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to regional development by signing the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) Bill into law.”
“His passion for infrastructural transformation in the region is evident in several bold initiatives, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a game-changing project.”
“This transformative legislation, sponsored by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong of Cross River South Senatorial District, is yet another testament to Mr President’s foresight in ensuring sustainable development beyond the oil sector.”
“The commission will help unlock the economic potential of the South-South, fostering job creation and improving the quality of life for millions,” the Forum said.
The forum also noted with pleasure the visionary leadership of the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the enthusiasm of Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong towards the development of the South-South.
It said with the development commission in place, the people of the region can look forward to a new era of opportunity, prosperity, and inclusive development, solidifying Senator Ekpenyong’s legacy as a true champion of the South-South.
