Anambra Governor, Charles Soludo has called for efforts to rebuild the family as a unit of society.
Governor Soludo was speaking during a mass to celebrate his 32nd marriage anniversary at Isuofia, Aguata local government area of the State, on Friday.
While miscreants who mastermind insecurity and disturb the peace in the state are from different families, the Governor lamented that the family as a unit of society has broken down.
He described his wife, Nonye, as a virtuous woman and God-given gift, telling the story of how their love and marriage started, noting that the annual commemoration of their marriage is usually used as a point of contact to pray for marriages in trouble.
Earlier, the Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor called on the followers of Christ to always take recourse to God no matter the situation and encouraged couples to emulate the marriage between Governor Soludo and his wife, asking the Governor to continue his good works in the state.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, and his wife, Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, Traditional Ruler of Isuofia, Igwe Aloysius Moghalu, top government officials, the clergy, among others, attended the mass celebration.
