The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Friday said the ongoing military onslaught against terrorism and other criminal activities has continued to yield positive results with the surrendering of more than eight terrorist leaders and commanders to troops at various theaters.
This is just as military operations conducted in the last one week led to the killing of 135 terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and arrest of 185 others. The troops also arrested 61 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 129 kidnapped hostages.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Major General Edward Buba, who made this known, gave the names of terrorists that have surrendered to include: Yellow Jambros, Alhaji Mallam, Ardo Idi (Alhaji Lawal), Lawal Kwalba, Salkado, Yellow Ibrahim, Gana’e and Babangida among others.
Gen. Buba in a statement, while assuring that troops will continue to find innovative solutions in tackling the myriad of security challenges confronting the nation, said the armed forces remain in a winning position in the war.
Giving an update on military operations conducted in the last one week, Gen Buba, said: “Troops have begun to record surrendering of terrorists in the North Central operational theatres. The surrender was occasioned by overtures from the terrorist leadership based on troops’ onslaught against them.
“Therefore, a non kinetic collaborative effort with stakeholders was deployed to encourage the surrendering process.”
