Sokoto State Government has approved the reconstruction and remodeling of twenty five blocks of hostels for lecturers at Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto.
This was part of the resolutions reached after the 12th state executive council meeting on Wednesday.
The reconstruction, according to the state Commissioner for Higher Education Alhaji Aminu Dodo Iya, said the 25 houses which were primarily built to provide accommodations for lecturers at the school are now in a terrible condition.
He said the state executive council approved the reconstruction of the buildings with modern facilities at the cost of 250 million naira.
He also explained that the state executive council, chaired by Governor Ahmad Ali Yu, approves the sum of 122 million naira to construct a nine newly built complete components Toilet with modern facilities within the school premises.

The council also approves another contract which includes rehabilitation and remodeling of numbers of schools across the three senatorial zones of the state.
Some of the schools include, “Sheikh Abubakar Gummi Secondary School at the cost of N788.284 million naira, Hafsatu Ahmadu Bello Secondary School at N591.410m, Sokoto Teachers College at N433.170m naira.
Others include, “Sani Dingyadi Unity School at the cost of N374.654m, Unity Secondary School, Bodinga at the cost of N567.517m .
Sultan Maccido Institute of Quranic and General Studies at the cost of N1.693,565,136 Billion naira, Government Secondary School, Illela at the cost of N1.347,287,062.43 Billion naira as well as JSS Illela which was affected by flood recently at the cost of N591.410 million naira only.
