On Friday, hundreds of members of the Shiite community embarked on a trekking procession to demonstrate their happiness and welcome back their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, from a medical trip in Iran.
The loyalists of Zakzaky, comprising different groups along with their families, gathered in the ancient city of Kano, beating drums, singing, and dancing to express their joy for their leader’s return after undergoing medical treatment to remove alleged bullets from his body.
Malam Idris Muhammad, speaking to the press, explained that the procession aimed to express their happiness and gratitude for seeing their leader return in peace after his medical trip to Iran. He clarified, “Our leader and his wife have returned from Iran after their medical trip, where they were initially admitted to an Indian hospital before undergoing final surgery in Iran to remove bullets from his body.”
He emphasized that the procession was peaceful and non-confrontational, reflecting the peace-loving nature of their community.
During the procession, members carried placards expressing support for causes such as Palestine’s freedom and welcoming Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky back home. Some of the placards read, ‘Welcome, Baba Oyoyo. We thank Allah for your good health. Allah is great. We love you, Baba Oyoyo.”
As they were marching through the streets, many people came out to watch them and commend them for organising a peaceful procession devoid of rancour or acrimony
