Vice President Kashim Shettima has reiterated the commitment of the Bola Tinubu administration to pursing policies that promote sustainable solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting the nation.
The Vice President stated this in Lafia in his address during the launching of Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Strategy Document and the State’s Gender Transformative Human Capital Development Policy Framework, yesterday.
Emphasising the significance of human capital development in Nigeria’s growth, Shettima said: “We are not just launching documents, we are reaffirming our shared belief that our path to sustainable solutions lies in addressing the unique realities of each state.”
The launch, held at the Alyu Akwe Banquet Hall in Government House, Lafia aims to improve the welfare and livelihoods of residents across the 13 local government areas.
Shettima highlighted the challenges facing Nigeria, including high fertility rates, maternal and infant mortality rates, and low life expectancy. “Enough of the cycles that have held us back, enough of the legacies of unplanned high fertility rates and alarming maternal and under-five mortality rates,” he emphasized.
He praised Nasarawa State’s commitment to human capital development, saying, “Nasarawa State holds tremendous potential to improve educational outcomes, especially within the North Central Region.”
Stressing the importance of education in Nigeria’s development, he said: “We must prioritize enrollment and completion rates through targeted interventions,
“No government can or should function in isolation. The progress we have made in the HCD programme has already been possible because of our shared commitment to collaboration, partnership, and acknowledging the high cost of conflict in service delivery.”

Delivering a keynote address, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State emphasized the importance of the documents, saying, “Our strategic plan is designed with flexibility and adaptability, allowing us to respond to emerging trends and global challenges.”
The Governor highlighted Nasarawa State’s economic vision, saying, “As we move towards 2030, the economic landscape of Nasarawa and by extension, Nigeria will continue to evolve. This is why our strategic plan is designed with flexibility and adaptability, allowing us to respond to emerging trends and global challenges.”
