A wide range of empowerment items worth N320 million were distributed by Senator Lere Oyewumi, the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, to constituents in the Osun West Senatorial District.
Some of the items distributed included sports utility vehicles (SUVs), tricycles, motorcycles, deep freezers, sewing machines, generating sets, barbing kits, and grinding machines.
The beneficiaries according to a statement made available by the Senator’s head of the media unit, Mr. Timileyin Popoola, comprised young entrepreneurs, artisans, and women who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their benefactor.
Speaking at the event, Senator Oyewumi emphasized the program’s significance, stating that, “this empowerment program is a way to give back to my people and thank them for their unwavering support for me and Governor Ademola Adeleke._
“These items will help enhance economic activities, improve livelihoods, and uplift the overall well-being of the people.”
He added that “the empowerment program aimed to stimulate economic growth and enhance the quality of life for beneficiaries.”
In his own remark, the State Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi commended Senator Oyewumi for his impactful contributions, describing him as an “uncommon senator” who has brought relief to his constituents during a challenging economic period.
“Through various projects and these empowerment items, the Senator has shown exceptional commitment to improving lives,” he said.
Expressing their appreciation, the beneficiaries described the initiative as transformative.
Some of them however pledged to make judicious use of the items to better their lives and contribute to their communities.
According to one of them who simply identified himself as Adeyemo said, “This initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the socio-economic development of Osun West Senatorial District.
The posited also that, the gestures would further cement Senator Oyewumi’s reputation as a leader dedicated to the well-being and prosperity of his people.
