The lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, on Saturday distributed 5,000 bags of rice and 1,000 bags of fertilizer to his constituents, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), OUK Movement, and Reality Organization.
The event, which held at his Camp Neya country home in Igbere, was attended by chieftains of the APC.
The event reaffirmed the former Abia State governor’s commitment to uniting party members and promoting peace and unity in the state.
Senator Kalu praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating bold reforms and acknowledged the economic challenges faced by Nigerians. He expressed confidence in the president’s efforts to revitalize the economy, saying: “President Tinubu knows Nigerians are hungry, but I am confident he will fix the economy.”
Speaking at the event, the senator outlined the purpose of the meeting: “The aim of this gathering is to strengthen our structure, assess our strengths, and ensure the working committees of the local governments are in order. I can confidently say that our team, comprising the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Woman Leader, Youth Leader, and PRO, is intact. We remain the largest political family in Abia State.
“I make it a duty to engage with our members regularly, not just during elections. It is important to support the APC at all levels. Our president is aware that the reforms have caused discomfort, and I have discussed this with him both privately and publicly. He is determined to address these issues.
“What we have done today is to ensure these relief items reach the grassroots. I urge everyone to work together. There is no distinction between APC, Reality Organization, and OUK Movement. Democracy is about the people, and we must all focus on our shared goals, ignoring distractions.”
Soeaking, the state chairman of Reality Organization, Barr. Peter Ndukwe, urged members to rally behind Senator Kalu, saying, “We must do everything possible to ensure OUK progresses because his destiny is tied to ours. Let us all put in our best effort. Orji Uzor Kalu is a father and a true leader. We should follow him with reason and obedience.”
Similarly, Hon. Ojisi Ogbaja, Chairman of OUK Movement in Abia State, emphasized the importance of collective effort.
His words: “Politics is about people. Resources alone won’t win elections. It would be wrong to have these groups and not achieve results. Senator Kalu is in the Senate because we elected and supported him.
“As stakeholders from Arochukwu and Ohafia, we must put in more effort. If we secure two state assembly seats for the APC, it will strengthen our position. Let us get our acts together, work harder, and win elections. Diligence in assigned tasks is key, and collective success will make others take us seriously.”
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Hon. Robinson Otuwe Kalu, Hon. Ignis Ifeanyi Ogbonna, Hon. Paul O. Uche, Prince Engr. Emma Nwosu, Hon. Perfect Okorie, Chief Chukwuemeka Izuka, Barr. Sam Ogbonna, Chief Okey Ezeala, Arc. Dike Nduka, Barr. Helen Okoro Orji, and Chief Chinyere Anyanwu.
