Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will unveil a total of 36 newly completed roads, five bridges, and a pedestrian bridge across the state beginning Monday.
Special Adviser (SA) on Infrastructure, Engr. Olufemi Daramola, made this known on Friday at a press briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Lagos Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, describing the unveiling as a major milestone in the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.
According to Daramola, the projects aligned with the THEMES+ agenda of Sanwo-Olu’s administration, which prioritises traffic management and transportation to enhance the welfare and productivity of Lagos residents.
Quoting the Governor’s recent budget presentation, Daramola reiterated that continuous investments in infrastructure remained the backbone of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s development agenda, saying that the Greater Lagos envisioned would “emerge on the back of high-quality infrastructure that keeps pace with population growth.”
Daramola said the projects slated for commissioning spanned multiple local government areas, including Agege, Alimosho, Badagry, Eti-Osa, Ikeja, and Kosofe, adding that they include the rehabilitation of Dopemu Road in Agege, the construction of Abiola-Onijemo Link Road with a bridge in Ifako-Ijaiye, the reconstruction of Irede Road in Amuwo Odofin, and the rehabilitation of Oyinkan Abayomi Drive in Ikoyi, Eti-Osa, among others.
Others, according to him, include rehabilitation/upgrading of Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road (Dopemu Road) in Agege; construction of Babafemi Dada Road with Bridge, Yinka Folarin, Jamiu Lawal, and Shalom Academy Road Network in Alimosho; construction of Abaranje Road in Alimosho; reconstruction and dualisation of Irede Road in Amuwo-Odofin, among others.
This was just as the governor’s aide noted that the projects were prioritised to ensure timely completion, despite global economic challenges and inflationary pressures.
“Delivering these projects amidst economic downturns demonstrates the administration’s commitment to its promises and the prosperity of Lagosians,” he said.
Speaking further, Daramola said projects scheduled for commissioning on Monday are the Abiola-Onijemo Link Road in Ifako-Ijaiye and the Alapere Pedestrian Bridge in Kosofe, while Governor Sanwo-Olu will, on Tuesday, open the Ikoyi road network, which includes Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Femi Okunnu Road, and Macpherson Avenue.
