Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has mourned the passing of the Baba Adinni of Lagos and Chairman of the Executive Council of Lagos Central Mosque, Sheikh Abdul-Hafeez Aṣhamu Abou.
The Governor mourned the Sheikh in a post on his official X handle on Wednesday.
Sanwo-Olu wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Sheikh Abdul-Hafeez Aṣhamu Abou, the Baba Adinni of Lagos and Chairman of the Executive Council of Lagos Central Mosque.
“His death is a great loss to his family, the Muslim community, and Lagos State.
“Sheikh Abou lived an exemplary life dedicated to peace and harmony in the state. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, associates, and the entire Muslim community in Lagos.
“I pray that Allah grants him peace and grants his family strength during this difficult time.”
PUNCH reports that President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, also mourned the passing of Sheikh Abdul-Hafeez Aṣhamu Abou.
He condoled with Baba Adinni’s family, the Muslim community in Lagos, as well as the Lagos State Government over the loss.
