Samsung is no stranger to smart wearable users and enthusiasts, despite this segment being heavily dominated by players like Xiaomi with their Smart Band series and the Huawei Bands. Others like Amazfit and Fitbit also enjoy a decent share of the market but Samsung seems to have focused on the premium smartwatch segment for a while.
Of course, we have the Samsung Fit from 2019 and the Galaxy Fit 2 (2020) from the height of COVID but these were overpriced in comparison to the competition and didn’t look as pretty, at least for me.

Samsung is now launching the Galaxy Fit 3 in markets around the world and from the loo of things, this might be the most capable fitness tracker from Samsung yet, but is it capable enough to excite people in a market where the Band 8’s from Huawei and Xiaomi exist and cost around half the price Samsung wants you to pay for one?
Certainly! Here are the specifications for the Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 presented in a table format:
Feature | Details |
---|---|
Display | 1.57-inch full-color OLED screen |
Body Material | Aluminum with IP68 and 5ATM ratings for dust and water resistance |
Wristband | Silicone with a one-click detaching mechanism for easy swapping |
Sensors | Accelerometer, gyro, and heart-rate monitor for activity tracking, fitness, and sleep monitoring |
Connectivity | Bluetooth 5.3 support |
Storage | 16MB RAM and 256MB storage |
Battery Life | Up to 13 days on a single charge |
Additional Features | Over 100 customizable watch faces, emergency SOS, fall detection, and syncing with Galaxy smartphones. |
See, I have been into wearables for the past 6 years or so and there are a few features that, at least for me, make up a good fitness tracker. first, is the display size. I love the Xiaomi Smartband 5 but the screen is a little too small even for me. This makes usage a little cumbersome. Samsung’s Fit 3 comes with the biggest display Samsung has ever fir on one of its fitness trackers and I love that.
The other features like the number of sports it can track is fairly standard and inconsequential because who can perform over 100 different sport types?
Battery life being quoted at around 2 weeks is also fairly standard in this category but in all honesty, expect around 10 days if every single tracker in the market is anything to go by.

Why Galaxy Fit 3 might be a Hit
See, this product segment, like the smartphone market, has matured over the years, for better or worse. With Samsung also dominating the smartphone market at almost every price range, it was only a matter of time before they offered users a product that fits well in the ecosystem they’re building and growing.
Many people that will buy into the Fit 3 are the ones that quite can’t afford the Galaxy Watch4 that cost quite the fortune but want to remain plugged into the Samsung Fitness ecosystem and the Samsung ecosystem for that matter.
The larger display also sets it apart but how polished this device will be compared to the current titans in the market remains to be seen. But I have one major concern.
Pricing and Availability
The Galaxy Fit 3 goes for $100. This is a big ask in a market where products from Xiaomi and Huawei, which are tried and tested and very polished today by the slow iteration they’be gone through over the years, go for around half that price.
The Galaxy Fit 3 is available in Gray, Pink Gold, and Silver colors, and it will slowly launch in various regions starting on February 23, 2024. In Kenya, there are listings for around Ksh 14,000. Stay tuned for more once we get our review unit.
