The Limpopo Department of Education encourages students to seek emotional support as South Africa’s Grade 12 (matric) class of 2024 awaits their National Senior Certificate results.
According to the South African Broadcasting Corporation on Thursday, the results will be released on January 13, with provinces set to announce their top performers on January 14.
Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya expressed the province’s commitment to improving its performance, aiming for a pass rate increase from 79 per cent in 2023 to 80 per cent this year.
The department is focusing on ensuring that students have the necessary support to cope with the emotional strain that often accompanies the results period.
Lerule-Ramakhanya has advised families and friends of matriculants to help them deal with anxiety.
“I want to say to our class of 2024, hang in there, you have invested so much studying, energy, focus—everything—in writing your exams. This is just the last few days as we await the release of the results. Talk to each other, talk to your parents about your anxiety. There is no need to panic,” the agency said.
