NINE commissioners, who resigned from the cabinet of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State at the height of his face-off with the Minister of Works, Nyesom Wike may soon be re-absorbed into the State Executive Council (SEC).
Indications to this followed the process set in motion on Monday by the Rivers State House of Assembly for their screening and confirmation.
The House via a public announcement invited nine commissioner-nominees for “screening and confirmation as members of the state Executive Council.”
The announcement explained that the screening would hold on Wednesday at the Hallowed Chamber, Rivers State House of Assembly, Legislative Quarters, Port Harcourt.
The nominees are the pro-Wike members of the Fubara’s executive council, who resigned enmasse at the heat of the crisis between the Wike and his successor.
The announcement, however, did not indicate if the list emanated from Governor Fubara.
Efforts to get confirmation failed as the duo of the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joseph Johnson and the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Boniface Onyedi did not respond to their calls or to WhatsApp messages sent to them on the matter.
The public announcement, which was signed by Emeka Amadi, Clerk of the Rivers State House of Assembly read in part; “The Rivers State House of Assembly hereby invites the following Commissioner -nominees for screening and confirmation as Members of the Rivers State Executive Council.”
List of the invitees included: Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN); Dr. Jacobson Mbina; Dr Gift Worlu; Mrs Inime Chinwenwo- Aguma; Mr. Chukwuemeka Woke; Professor Prince Chinedu Mmom; George-Kelly D. Alabo; Honourable Isaac Kamalu and Mr Austin Ben Chioma.
It asked the nominees to come along with 40 sets of Curriculum Vitae (CV), photocopies of their credentials and their originals.
