The House of Representatives on Wednesday considered and passed the Federal Medical Centre Act (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (HB. 1386).
The bill, sponsored by the lawmaker representing Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo federal constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Prince Olaide Mohammed, aims to establish the Federal Medical Centre in Igboho, Orelope local government area of Oyo state, under the Federal Medical Centres Act.
In a statement by the special assistant on Media to the federal lawmaker, Ahmed Mustapha, the bill, officially titled, “A Bill for an Act to Amend the Federal Medical Centres Act to Establish the Federal Medical Centre, Igboho, Oyo state, and for Related Matters 2024 (HB. 1386)”, was first read at the National Assembly in May, 2024.

The statement said that the bill has now been reviewed by the Committee of the Whole and successfully scaled all legislative stages.
It reads, “With this passage, it advances to the Senate for concurrence, spearheaded by Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, the Senator representing Oyo North senatorial district.
“Once approved by the Senate, it will be presented to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for assent, marking a critical step toward its enactment into law.
“This monumental achievement heralds a new chapter for the people of Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency, promising to bring world-class healthcare infrastructure and services closer to their doorstep.
“You will recall that on October 16, 2024, Hon. (Dr.) Prince Olaide Mohammed received a delegation from the Oorelope Landmark Development Foundation (OLDF) at his National Assembly office.
“The visit addressed rumours suggesting the possible relocation of the proposed Federal Medical Centre from Igboho.
“So, this development further underscores Hon. Mohammed’s commitment to the welfare of his constituents and his efforts to attract federal infrastructure to the constituency.”
