The Red Cross leader in Cross River State, Mrs. Gertrude Usani, and Governor Bassey Otu’s Chief Press Secretary, Gill Nsa, have urged Brotherhood Model College, (BROMCO) graduates to avoid vices, social problems, and negative influences from their peers.
They cautioned them to be very focused at their studies if they intend to become useful and important citizens of the country in future.
Both gave the advice at the weekend during the school held their 2023/2024 graduation ceremony in Calabar and intake of SS3 students.
Nsa who was the guest of honour stressed the importance of embracing change in both character and learning.
“By being open to change and willing to adapt, you will continue to evolve and grow in ways you never thought possible.
“Embracing change in your character means being open-minded, and empathetic. And resilient in the face of challenges. You just step out of your comfort zone, take risks, and learn from your mistakes.”
Still emphasizing embracing change, Nsa urged the graduands to be curious, inquisitive and eager to explore new ideas and perspectives.

He also advised them to explore different fields of knowledge and interests for a well-rounded education.
On her part, Mrs Usani stressed the importance of guidance and career counselors in schools, told the graduands that they have reached a turning point in their lives.
She cautioned parents and guardians against forcing their children and wards against forcing them to take a career path they are not interested in, or taking after their own kind of trades and professions.
“Parents should allow their children to follow their own destinies and choices.
“Children should be allowed to willingly and freely choose what professions they want to pursue.”
The school principal, Tari Pujeh urged the graduating students not to focus on negative tasks and should overcome obstacles that prevent them from their goals.
“You must have positive outlook on the world and understand that discipline is the bridge between goals and achievements.
“I hope that each one of you finds yourself on a stage big enough to have great influence to proclaim truth and fairness.”
