The constituents of the eight suspended lawmakers of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have demonstrated peacefully over the suspension of the legislators.
The worried protesters on Tuesday described the suspension as an act of wickedness to the constituents, appealing to the State House of Assembly to recall their representatives to continue with their constitutional duties.
Addressing newsmen in Gusau during the protest at the Zamfara State House of House complex, the leader of the group, Saifullahi Abdullahi, described the suspension of the eight representatives by the Assembly as undemocratic.
“Our representatives have been suspended for the past four months now, we are not represented in the House.
“We know how much we have missed since the suspension of the eight state lawmakers. We are demanding their immediate return to the State House of Assembly,” he stated.
Abdullahi added: “We are appealing to the State Governor, Dauda Lawal, to wade into the matter for the immediate reinstatement of our representatives into the House.”
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the eight state lawmakers representing Maru, Bungudu, Bukkuyum, Gummi, Maradun, Tsafe, Bakura and Talata Mafara local government areas of Zamfara State were suspended from the assembly for allegedly sitting without the speaker, Bilyaminu Moriki.
