Activist and lawyer, Madubuachi Idam, on Monday, asked President Bola Tinubu to blame himself for the display of the Russian flag during the EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest by some Northerners.
In Kano and some Northern States, protesters and foreigners were arrested for displaying the Russian flag during the just-concluded protest.
However, Idam described the display of the Russian flag as the highest level of disloyalty and civil disobedience to Nigeria’s sovereignty.
Speaking with Arogidigba Global Journal, the activist said: “Flying of the Russian flag by Northern protesters is the highest expression of civil disobedience and disloyalty to the sovereignty of Nigeria by citizens.
“The exact offence committed by such conduct is legally uncertain whereas the unspoken words behind the act are clearly scornful, contemptuous and disdainful both nationally and internationally.
“Unfortunately, President Tinubu should blame no one but himself for the shameful display of disallegiance to his government especially by (his own darlings) those whose votes he claims made him the president. His words have been unkind both to the protesters and the situation at hand.”
He charged the president to recruit practical economists into his government to help grow Nigeria’s economy.
Idam added: “I urge the President to urgently recruit “practical economists” wherever they may be into his government. They should be individuals with practical knowledge of “How to Grow an Economy” within a short period of time.
“He should do away with conventional politicians whose only idea of growing the economy is “share money and grandstand before the media.
“Nigeria needs urgent attention. The auto-pilot model on which Nigeria’s economy has been running for years appears not sustainable any longer. Failure to attend to these issues, the protest may most likely resurge nation wide with our Northern brothers taking the lead this time.”
