The newly crowned Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup has been urged to prioritise reconciliation with those aggrieved over his emergence.
This call was made by the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Yinka Fasuyi in a congratulatory message on Monday.
While noting that the process which produced the Owa Obokun may not be perfect, Fasuyi added that there was a need for unity in the community.
He stressed that fostering peace and understanding was vital for Ijesaland’s continued development.
He urged Oba Haastrup to reach out to other contestants, especially the Bilaro Ruling House, to heal wounds caused by the contest for the throne.
The Asiwaju also called on other contestants for the throne to put aside their grievances for the greater good of the community.
The statement reads, “The selection process of our new Imperial Majesty Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, the Ajimoko III may not have been 100% perfect, but all of us as Ijesas owe it a duty to jealously protect and preserve those values that have distinctly characterised us as forward-looking race and trusting that our new Imperial Majesty would heal all perceived wounds with prompt initiation of reconciliatory mechanism with other Contestants from his Bilaro Ruling House.
“The developmental tasks ahead of our new Imperial Majesty are not only very huge but also very demanding and we cannot afford to distract him, hence, my sincere appeal to all aggrieved parties in this royal contest to sheath their respective swords in order for us to sustain the tempo of our sustainable development in Ijesaland.”
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that Oba Haastrup received the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment at an event attended by prominent Nigerians across all walks of life in Ilesa on Sunday.
The presentation was carried out by the state governor, Ademola Adeleke.
Oba Haastrup in his inaugural address also declared war on land grabbing in his domain.
Haastrup succeeded the late Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, who died on September 11, 2024, at the age of 86.
