The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, says the problem of Nigeria including the current economic hardship is not only caused by politicians but rather that the civil servants and technocrats contribute heavily to the problems.
Kalu made this statement on Thursday during a courtesy call by the Platform Public Service Boot camp attendees at the National Assembly, Abuja.
He raised the need to bring digitization into the public service space where an auditing app can encourage accountability and productivity.
The lawmaker, who acknowledged the youth as the energy of a nation, observed that many young people do not understand the concept of public service which has always been misinterpreted as a mere means of livelihood.
The Deputy Speaker further said that public service is more than a job but a commitment to the betterment of society, a noble calling and above all, a duty that must be fulfilled to secure the nation.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the boot camp is a transformative journey that aims at reprogramming the mindset of Nigerian youths which aims to address inclusion and development of youths across all sectors.
