Over 100 senior police officers of the Edo State Police Command have been trained in modern-day policing methods.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the trained officers are from the rank of Assistant Police Commissioners, ACP.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the two-day capacity building, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, said the officers were drawn from the state command, area commands and divisional police headquarters across the state.
Adegboye said the training was in line with the Inspector General of Police’s directive on the training and retraining of personnel to develop their capacity for utmost performance.
According to him, the trained officers will go to their respective divisions and train other officers on modern policing.
The commissioner noted that the training would go a long way in impacting new values, ideas and principles that will make police officers perform better in line with modern-day policing.
“The training will have a long-lasting impact on officers’ performance, improved professionalism, knowledge, capacity development and relationships with the public,” he said.
He also advised the officers to consider police work a sacrifice for the nation in their bid to ensure a crime-free society.
