The Police Service Commission, PSC, has said it did not announce any date for examining applicants in the ongoing recruitment of constable cadres of the Nigeria Police.
The PSC further disowned trending dates on social media for the examinations on Sunday.
The spokesperson of the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement, advised applicants to discountenance the dates currently circulating on social media, saying that the commission would at the appropriate time not only officially announce the date for the examination but notify applicants who were successful from the screening exercise.
Recall that the commission had recently concluded a screening exercise for candidates in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Ani maintained that the commission has directed the Police Cyber-crime Unit to investigate the source of the trending publication and quickly arrest the culprits for prosecution.
The statement said, “The commission wishes to advise prospective applicants to disregard any communication or updates on the ongoing recruitment exercise that are not officially issued by the commission through its recognised media platforms.”
”The applicants are advised to exercise patience and await the commission’s official statement on the date for the examination, as the date would also be formally communicated to shortlisted applicants who were successful in the screening exercise,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, PSC chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase, has warned applicants not to be desperate to avoid falling prey to marauding deviants who refuse to stay away from the recruitment exercise.
Arase said every candidate will enjoy equal opportunity in all the stages of the recruitment and that successful candidates will be good enough to make the nation proud especially now that the fight against insurgency and banditry is one battle that must be won in the interest of a united and prosperous Nigeria.
He said the commission was aware of the expectations of Nigerians and promised that this recruitment would meet and even surpass the expectations.
