Niger State Commissioner of Police Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman has presented cheques worth N44.5 million to no fewer than 38 next of kin and families of deceased personnel of Niger State Police Command who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The cheques were given on behalf of the Inspector General of Police to families of officers who died in the 2022-2023 year in the state.
Danmamman, who presented the cheques to beneficiaries during the Niger State Police Command’s end-of-the-month conference at the Police Officers’ Mess, Minna, today, said the token was to ameliorate the suffering of the families.
The Commissioner of Police told the families: “Unfortunately, sometimes in the course of duty, some personnel paid the supreme price. So, you were invited for collection of cheques under the Group Life Assurance Scheme of the Force in addition to other benefits within the Police Force for the families. The gesture is to provide some token to the next of kin of our fallen heroes. I pray that, you all find solace and comfort in the Lord.”
He admonished the families to utilise the token wisely for a better standard of living.
Similarly, the Commissioner of Police presented NYSC commendation letters to 17 personnel of the Command, who were deployed as the Police team to ensure orderliness and security at the recently concluded NYSC Orientation Camp for the year 2024 Batch A, Stream One orientation exercise in Minna.
He noted that the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka, appreciated the team for their dedication during the orientation exercise, in spite of challenges.
Some of the personnel presented with the letter include ASP Shuaibu Abdulkadir and ASP Istifanus Yakubu. Others are inspectors Mafuyai Yak, Inspr Nasiru Danlami, Sule Rahman, Mustapha Ndagi, Salihu Mohammed, and Magret John, among others.
The team leader, ASP Shuaibu Abdulkadir, on behalf of the personnel, thanked the Commissioner of Police for giving him and others the opportunity to serve in such capacity, while he equally appreciated the NYSC Coordinator for the commendation and promised to do more in the line of duty.
