Some officers attached to the Delta State Police Command have been arrested and detained for assaulting a young man in a now-viral video.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a post accompanied by a video and posted on X.com on Sunday.

Edafe revealed that their arrest followed an order by the command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.

“We won’t tolerate incivility. Gone are those days when brutality and incivility go unchecked. Those who assaulted him will be used as an example as directed by the CP,” he noted.

Edafe added that the officers involved have been detained while their team leaders have been queried.

He wrote, “Action taken! Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered their detention while the team leaders who are senior police officers be queried.

“Orderly room trial to commence on Monday. While the evidence is obvious, the evidence of the guy assaulted can help to reach a deserving judgment.”
