A man identified as Benedict Toju has been detained by the Delta State Police after accusing officers conducting a stop-and-search operation of stealing his manhood.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a video shared on his X handle on Thursday.
Edafe stated, “This suspect and his two friends were stopped by the police. Their vehicle was searched, and they were allowed to go because nothing incriminating was found.
“To our greatest surprise, this suspect returned and claimed that, after the police search, his manhood had disappeared. We keep hearing such stories, but we have never encountered one person whose manhood truly disappeared.
“This is why we continue to set an example in such cases. Let them go to court and explain how their manhood disappears when it is confirmed to be intact.”
In response to the spokesperson’s question, the suspect claimed he began experiencing a strange sensation immediately after the police had released him following the search of his vehicle.
“When I left, I was feeling somehow, so I came back to explain how I was feeling, which was very wrong. They brought me to the station. The DPO requested a doctor’s examination, which was conducted and confirmed that my penis is intact,” Toju said.
When asked why he didn’t verify the state of his manhood before accusing the policemen, Toju replied, “I opened my trousers and checked, but I was scared because it appeared to be shrinking and very small. Later, I realised it was my panic that caused it.”
“I feel bad because I made a false accusation. I believe I will learn from this mistake,” Toju added when asked about his feelings regarding the incident.
A report by Sunday PUNCH detailed a similar incident involving an 18-year-old man, Ebube Linus, who accused a 68-year-old widow, Mrs Ann Ekechukwu, of making his manhood disappear after she allegedly touched him while they were passengers in a tricycle in Asaba on Sunday, 8 October.
Similarly, on 22 September, another case emerged when a young man, Rokeeb Saheed, accused one Lucky Josiah of causing his manhood to “go missing.” However, a medical examination conducted by the police confirmed that Saheed’s organ was intact.
