From Tony John, Port Harcourt

A woman identified as Jessica has been arrested by detectives attached to Special Area, Rumudomaya (Rumuokoro) Police Division, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, for allegedly striping naked and pouring substance suspected to be pepper on a 13-year-old girl (name withheld).

The teenage girl was allegedly sexually abused by Jessica’s husband, Ebuka, at their residence in Rukpokwu in Obio/Akpor LGA.

Mother of the victim, who gave her name as Goodness, said she was at her place work of on Sunday evening, December 29, 2024, when some persons called her that Jessica, her neighbour had stripped the daughter naked and tortured her.

The traumatized mother stated that before she arrived home, some neighbours had rescued her daughter from Jessica.

Explaining further to journalists, Goodness said after interrogating her daughter, the girl revealed that the incident occurred on Christmas day, after Jessica and her visiting friend had gone out.

She said: “As his (Ebuka’s ) wife went out with her friend, Ebuka bounced on her and allegedly raped her after threatening to deal with her if she refuses.

“After he was done, he let my daughter go, though my daughter did not tell me because of the threat.Nobody has seen Ebuka after that day.

“So, on Sunday evening, Ebuka’s wife, Jessica, came to my shop and told my daughter to follow her, that she wants to show my daughter something in the house.

“My daughter followed her, only to get to their house, she (Jessica) stripped my daughter naked, poured her pepper and also inserted pepper in her private part.

“Jessica dragged my daughter outside, flogged her severally with machete accusing her of having sex with her husband, Ebuka. Some persons even video-recorded my daughter.”

Meanwhile, the National Coordinator of Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign, Prince Wiro, has condemned the alleged torture of the 13-year-old girl by the woman.

Wiro described the incident as inhumane, barbaric and disheartening and called on police to apprehend the fleeing prime suspect, Ebuka.

Daily Sun later gathered that security operatives have arrested Ebuka and he denied raping the victim in his statement.
