The police force headquarters in Abuja has announced that its operations against crimes and criminality across the country have led to the arrest of 179 suspected robbers, 100 kidnappers, and 152 murder or homicide suspects.
Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who made this known, also stated that the police arrested 34 suspects for unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, 77 rape suspects, and 110 cultists. Additionally, they recovered 73 various firearms and 310 rounds of ammunition of various calibres.
Speaking at a media briefing where some of the suspects were paraded, Adejobi said the police also recovered 56 stolen vehicles and rescued 22 victims of kidnapping across the country.
He highlighted notable achievements, including the arrest of Muhammed Kabir (male, 36 years) and other members of his gang, including Donald Okpere (male) and Haruna Ibrahim (male). He said the gang operated by impersonating military personnel and defrauding victims of millions of naira, using fake alerts to purchase gadgets and medical equipment.
In addition, the operatives arrested Sunday Okwo Ade (male), Monday Solomon (male), David Emmanuel (male), and Shakiru Badmus (male), members of a notorious gang specialising in stealing motorcycles from farmers in various communities in Lagos and Ogun states. Fifteen motorcycles were recovered from this gang.
The Force Public Relations Officer stated that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to remaining steadfast in its core principle of policing: safeguarding lives and property while creating an enabling environment for the public to go about their daily activities peacefully.
He added, “The Force will not relent in its pursuit of criminal elements and ensuring justice is served when due and appropriate, as the extant laws of our country have laid out.”
