The Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, has expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate and tragic school building collapse in Jos, Plateau State.

The forum expressed heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragedy.

Arogidigba Global Journal recalls that a school building in Jos, housing over 200 students, collapsed on Friday. While over 15 students died, several others sustained various degrees of injuries

The Plateau State governor ordered the school’s immediate closure on Saturday to ensure the safety of other students and allow a thorough investigation into the incident.

The Nigeria Governors Forum’s chairman, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a statement on Saturday,

praised the prompt response of the rescue teams and the state government’s efforts in handling the crisis.

According to the NGF chairman, school safety in Nigeria is crucial, and state governments must promptly address any deficiencies.

“The Nigeria Governors’ Forum stands in solidarity with the people of Plateau and the affected families during this difficult time. We commend the swift response of the rescue teams and the efforts of the state government in

managing this crisis.

“As the State Government continues to provide support and comfort to the affected families, the NGF is ready to support efforts to help mitigate the impact of this tragedy and prevent future occurrences,” he said.

“Safety in our schools is paramount, and we must take immediate steps to address any lapses. We are committed to supporting Plateau State in providing necessary assistance to the affected families,” Gov AbdulRazaq added.
