Plateau State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed its heartfelt congratulations to Taye Obateru, Major Adeyi and Godfrey Danaan on their promotion to the rank of professor by the University of Jos.
In a congratulatory message signed by the Chairman and Secretary of NUJ, Ayuku Manasseh Pwaspo and Mary Domtur, the council said the confirmation was a clear testament of their unwavering commitment, dedication, sacrifices, and contributions they had made in the journalism sector.
Obateru was for many years Deputy News Editor, Middle Beit, for Vanguard Newspaper, while Adeyi worked for many years as correspondent for The Punch among several newspapers. While Obateru and Dana’an are from the Department of Mass Communication, Adeyi is the Head of the Department of Political Science all of the University of Jos.
According to the statement, “The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council, congratulates you, Professors Taye Obateru, Major Adeyi, and Godfrey Danaan, on your promotion to the rank of Professor in the prestigious University of Jos.
“Your promotion did not come to us as a surprise considering your academic pedigree and contribution to journalism when you were in the field as reporters.
“Your elevation is a clear testament of your commitment, industry, and sacrifices.
“It is also an indication that the Governing Council and Management of the University of Jos want you to continue to impact lives by imparting knowledge and building the capacities of young persons to meet current challenges, particularly in the media industry, in line with global standards.
“We urge you to remain focused and resolute in your efforts to impart knowledge as young generation media professionals look up to you as their role model in the profession.
“Please accept the best wishes of NUJ for attaining the zenith of the academic profession”, the statement concluded
