The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, alongside his management team on Friday February 16, paid a condolence visit to the family and relatives of late Esther Adekanla, who was gruesomely murdered by unknown assailants in Dutse, the state capital.
The deceased was last seen on February 12, 2024 which made her neighbours become suspicious as all efforts made to reach her phone lines proved abortive.
On receipt of the report, detectives from the Dutse Police Division swung into action and proceeded to her house on Thursday, February 15, 2024.
On their arrival, it was discovered that the house was locked, but the door was forced open where the victim’s body was found in the sitting room lying lifeless in a pool of blood.
The team also observed visible cuts on her head and neck and the body has started decomposing.
Her daughter, Christiana Michael, was found locked in a store with cuts on her head but alive.
Both victims were rushed to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital.
The mum was confirmed dead by a medical doctor and the corpse was conveyed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) for autopsy.
The CP, who proceeded to Dutse General Hospital to oversee the condition of the injured daughter, directed Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse to thoroughly investigate the incident to unravel the cause of her killing and arrest the fleeing culprits.
