Ahead of the much-anticipated Edo PDP Primary Election scheduled for Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital, aspirants and delegates have been advised to adhere to the party guidelines.
According to the guidelines released by the State Organising Secretary, Tony Anenih Jnr., delegates are expected to gather at the Edo Hotel Marque, GRA, Benin City, where their accreditation process will commence by 8 am.
Anenih Jnr. said that each delegate will be issued security access cards upon successful accreditation in order to ensure a secure and controlled entry process.
To facilitate the smooth transportation of delegates, he explained that buses will be made available to convey the people to the primary venue, stressing that only designated buses carrying accredited delegates will be permitted onto the premises of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, with a strict prohibition on private vehicles.
“Governorship aspirants are instructed to utilise specified vehicles to drop themselves and their guests at the gate, departing afterwards.
“Notably, aspirants must collect two security tags from the Edo PDP Secretariat, Airport Road, Benin City, each allowing entry for one guest.
“In a bid to maintain order, delegates will be seated in the stadium based on their respective local government areas. Meanwhile, accreditation for journalists and civil society organisations will take place at the Marque. Only accredited press personnel and media outfits will gain access to the primary venue,” Anenih Jnr. stated.
Emphasising exclusivity, Tony Anenih Jnr, the State Organising Secretary, said only delegates, guests, and aspirants will be permitted inside the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium during the primary. He added that all concerned parties must be seated by 11 am.
