Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will meet in Abuja amid ongoing push by a section of the party to replace acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum.
The meeting being hosted by the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State will hold at his lodge on Tuesday.
The meeting is expected to address several pressing issues connected to the party’s ongoing internal crisis including a possible consensus on the position of the national chairman.
Some of the governors are pushing for a substantive party chairman from the North Central region while others stress the need for Damagum to stay put until next year’s national convention of the party.
The forum is also expected to fully resolve factional conflicts which had recently dogged the National Working Committee (NWC).
Additionally, the governors will attempt to resolve other disputes surrounding the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for October 24, where a new chairman may be elected.
