The Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders (NDRC) have accused governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Niger Delta of undermining President Bola Tinubu and Denis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), in their efforts to deliver democratic dividends.
The group alleges that these governors have launched a smear campaign against Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement released on Sunday, 6 April 2025, NDRC spokesperson W.O.I Izon-Ebi described the attacks on Otuaro as a calculated move by PDP elements. “The Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders (NDRC), the vanguard of truth and justice in the Niger Delta, hereby expose the venomous, politically motivated campaign of calumny against the distinguished Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), High Chief (Dr.) Dennis Otuaro,” he said.
“These relentless attacks are not mere coincidences but a well-orchestrated scheme by desperate PDP elements to destabilise the region, sabotage President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and cripple the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s foothold in the South-South ahead of the 2027 elections,” Izon-Ebi added.
He warned that the Niger Delta “is not a pawn in your dirty political games! We will resist any attempt to drag our region backwards for selfish electoral gains.” Izon-Ebi highlighted Tinubu’s initiatives, including the Renewed Hope Agenda, the coastal highway project, and key appointments of Niger Deltans, urging that these must not be derailed. “The NDRC stands ready to defend our region’s progress,” he said, calling on the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to investigate and curb these actions for the sake of stability.
The NDRC urged the presidency to take decisive steps: “Publicly reaffirm support for Dr. Otuaro and shield his administration from these malicious attacks. Direct the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to immediately investigate and neutralise these destabilising agents before they plunge the region into crisis. Expose and sanction PDP-sponsored propagandists who are more invested in political warfare than the welfare of Niger Deltans.”
