A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo, Elder Patrick Oriekhoe has called for unity in the party ahead of the September 21, 2024 Gubernatorial Election in the State.
He made the call while fielding questions from our Correspondent on Sunday in Benin City, the Edo State Capital
According to the Benin-born politician, no meaningful development will occur in a rancorous environment, hence, the need for the two factions in the party to be united to be more formidable for the election.
“We can not go into this election with a divided house as that will not ugur well for our party, the PDP. We need to go into the election as a united house,” he asserted.
While commending the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki for his giant strides in the past seven years in Edo, the affluent and influential politician posited that Dr Asue Ighodalo as a PDP candidate will bring more development to the people if voted as governor of the state.
He appealed to members of the PDP in the state and Edo people in general not to support Ighodalo who he posited has the capacity and track records that will transform Edo.
Speaking on his philanthropic activities, the Benin-born wealthy philanthropist, Oriekhoe, disclosed that his foundation, ‘Pat Oriekhoe Foundation’ will be empowering no fewer than 100 Edo residents with skill acquisitions and start-up capital.
He informed that the empowerment programme which commenced in May last year will be concluded in June 2024, adding that the next set of empowerment is scheduled to commence in August, 2024.
