Former local government Chairmen and Councillors who were sacked by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in 2019 have urged him to pay them their entitlements through their lawyer.
The former council bosses made this declaration on Friday.
Arogidigba Global Journal recalls that Makinde had alleged that the former local government Chairmen and Councillors were distracting his government a few days ago.
The former council bosses noted that they had lost no fever than 27 members since the governor refused to pay their entitlements.
Arogidigba Global Journal gathered that the state government still owed the former council bosses their entitlements amounting to N4.8 billion.
Spokesman for the former council bosses, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, in a statement made available to Arogidigba Global Journal on Friday, insisted that payment of the entitlements should be made through their lawyer.
Abass-Aleshinloye, while speaking, noted that the lawyer has the power of attorney to receive the entitlements on their behalf as supported by the court.
He said, “Lastly if the governor truly wants to pay his debt, which he must pay, he has all the information at his disposal.
“And in line with our (Forum 68) ex-ALGON resolution and a positive order of the court granted with the consent of His Excellency counsel, the Governor knows that the payment must be paid through our solicitors account.
“It is on record that even without a court order, the sum of N1.5 billion was paid to us through the client account of our then Solicitors, i.e. Adeniyi Akintola (SAN) & Co.
“Therefore, payment of our entitlement should be paid through our Lawyer, who has power of attorney to receive on our behalf as supported by the court. We remain resolute”.
