Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA), has on Wednesday, conducted a capacity building for thirteen executive Chairmen, their Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) and Desk Officers on their roles and responsibilities on the NG-CARES Micro-Projects implementation in their respective communities.
The training which held at the Center for Sustainable Development, University of Ibadan, Bodija, Ibadan with the theme “The Roles and Responsibilities of Local Government Authority/ Local Government Review Committee (LGRC) on Implementation of NG-CARES Micro-Projects,” was declared open by the OYCSDA Chairman, Hon. Abideen Adetokunbo Adeaga.
In his speech, Adeaga mentioned that the workshop was pertinent for the attainment of the objectives of the agency’s projects, adding that Local Government Stakeholders were significant in their roles on supervision and monitoring of implementation of developmental projects in the communities.
He commended the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for supporting the projects with funding to actualise the Roadmap to Sustainable Development 2023-2027 Omituntun 2.0, saying that the Governor was determined to enhance access of the citizenry to basic infrastructures by taking them from poverty to prosperity.
“The workshop is important for the attainment of the programme objective, Local Government Stakeholders are very significant for supervision and monitoring of developmental projects in their particular communities, therefore this workshop will equip you with necessary information, knowledge and skills needed to assist in monitoring supervision and maintenance of various community projects in your territories.
“Let me express profound gratitude to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Oyo State for giving unalloyed support to the agency through funding, the Governor was determined in enhancing the access of citizens to improved basic social infrastructures, thereby alleviating poverty and take us to prosperity.
“It is in the quest to achieve this goal that His Excellency approved the release of fund to provide micro-infrastructural projects that improve access to portable water, erosion and flood-free roads, primary healthcare and conducive teaching and learning environment for pupils in our communities.”
Dr. (Mrs) Rhaheemat Adabanija, along with the General Manager of OYCSDA, Mr Jelili Salau, presented lectures on “The Roles and Responsibilities of Local Government Authority/LGRC on Implementation of NG-CARES Micro-Projects” and “CSDA, The Journey So Far.”
They implored the executive Chairmen of the thirteen benefiting Local Government areas to be critically involved in the ongoing projects in their domains.
Mr Salau Jelili highlighted the achievements of the agency from the times of LEEMP, CSDP till the present NG-CARES programme and also applauded the Governor for granting fund for micro-projects to cover the entire thirty-three local government areas of the State.
Dr Adabanija harped on the roles of the local government authority and the Local Government Review Committee, which she described as important to foster quality delivery, ensure sustainability and as well entrench the sense of belonging among the community dwellers.
Among the Local Government Chairmen present at the workshop include Hon. Jacob Ogundiran of Oorelope local government, Hon. Ojo Oluwaseun of Ogooluwa local government, Hon. Akinleye Woleola of Akinyele local government and Hon. Alawode Oluwole of Ibadan South-East local government.
Others are Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo of Ibadan North-East local government, Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi of Ogbomoso South, who was represented by Mr Olawale Sunday, Hon. (Dr) Temitope Kolapo of Ona Ara local government, represented at the event by Mrs Akande Adenike and Hon. Raji Sodiq, the Vice Chairman of Lagelu local government, who stood in for the Chairman, Hon. Kamorudeen Mudashiru.
