The Catholic archdiocese of Owerri has condoled the family of the teenager shot to death at Amaimo, Ikeduru council area of Imo State by Reverend Father Joseph Enyinaya on a New Year’s Eve.
Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, Lucius Ugorji who commiserated with the family of the deceased in a condolence message he released shortly after the incident, has also called for calm at St. Columba’s church.
His statement reads in part, “The Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri highly regrets the shooting incident that took place on the eve of the New Year at St. Columba’s Catholic Church, Amaimo, leading to the death of a young man and wounding another.
The Archdiocese of Owerri condoles with the bereaved family and prays for the happy repose of the dead and the speedy recovery of the injured.
“Meanwhile, the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding it. We therefore call for calm at St. Columba’s parish, Amaimo.
Our correspondent has also gathered that the suspect, who gave himself up to the police after the shooting incident, sadly celebrated his 25th anniversary as a priest a day before the incident.
