The 14th Career Day Conference organized by The Bridge Leadership Foundation (TBLF) brought together over 5,000 young people in Calabar to receive guidance on topics such as leadership, education, youth unemployment, community development, innovation, and sustainable development.
For more than 13 years, Career Day has gathered experts in various fields such as career development, leadership, business consulting, entrepreneurship, technology, and governance from Nigeria and beyond Africa.
With 49,650 attendees and 83 speakers, the event has made a significant impact, as shown by many success stories from participants who have implemented the knowledge gained from the conference to enhance their careers and lives.
During the event, Senator Liyel Imoke, the founder of The Bridge Leadership Foundation, highlighted the significance of the foundation’s work in empowering young individuals to achieve their full potential regardless of the obstacles they may face.
He emphasized the need for adaptability and adjusting to the current challenges in order to succeed.
“Today we are going to be talking about the creative economy and the opportunities that exist in that economy. Note, the new economy is global, it is ready when you are ready. You don’t have to be in Lagos, London or America, just be where you are. How do you develop your talents, how do you take advantage of these new opportunities? All these and more is what you’ll hear from the experts.

“We are privilege to have industry experts including Ms Chioma Ude, Founder, Africa International Firms Festival and Mr John Ugbe CEO of West Africa, Multichoice who will share their insight and inspire us with their journeys.
“Our Theme this year “The Creative Economy: Building Nigeria’s Future Through Youth”, focuses on the transformative potential of the creative economy amidst challenges such as limited resources and infrastructure.
The Chief Executive Officer of West Africa, Multichoice, John Ugbe, said 41 per cent of the Nigerian population is made of young people, unlike their counterpart from the United States of America which consists of an ageing population.
In her remarks, a member Board of Trustees, Oni Abimbola, said for the past 13 years, the Bridge Leadership Foundation has awarded scholarships to over 1000 students through its annual scholarship award and recognition.
The event featured several speakers including; Chioma Ude, Founder, Africa International Film Festival, John Ugbe, CEO, West Africa, MultiChoice, Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head, Content and Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, Obi Asika, Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu** – CEO, Stitch Media; Senior Executive, Broadcast Media, TV & Film
Others are Kenneth Gyang, Co-founder, Cinema Kpatakpata, Enwongoabasi Ibom, Digital Content Creator and Songwriter, OtoObong Ekpenyong, Managing Producer, OE Production Company, Joey Akan, Founder, Afrobeats Intelligence, who all made valuable contributions on the current levels of success and strategies to harness creativity for youth development, empowerment, and nation-building.
The conference will explore the correlation between creativity and economic advancement, particularly in Nigeria and Africa.
